Top 5 Reasons to Clean your Air Ducts

Have you had your air ducts cleaned? Have you wondered if its worth it? EVERYONE should get their air ducts cleaned! It’s even more important to get your air ducts cleaned if anyone has health conditions, new to move in, or your house has had disaster cleanup from mold, fire, smoke, or water damage.

Here are the Top 5 Reasons to Clean your Air Ducts

  1. Cleaner Home Environment – Removing the dust and contaminants out of your home’s ductwork, including the registers and diffusers, improves the air quality inside of your house.  It will reduce the dust circulating in the air, making it more hygienic.
  2. Reduces Allergens & Irritants – Air ducts can contain harmful pollutants and micro-organisms including mildew, pet dander, bacteria, pollen, mold spores, and other toxins. This is especially important to people living with respiratory conditions such as asthma or allergies and for homes that have experienced disasters such as water, smoke, mold, or fire damage.
  3. Better Smells – Cleaning your ductwork may decrease offensive odors. This may be very important when you first move in to a home.
  4. Breathe Easier – Accumulated dust circulating the home can trigger more sneezing and coughing, even for healthy individuals, along with other sinus congestion issues.  Who wouldn’t want to breathe cleaner air?
  5. Save Money on your Energy Bill – Increased air flow through your AC ducting increases your air conditioner efficiency, potentially saving you 25-40% on your energy bill!

At Pure Cleaning & Restoration, we offer quality cleaning for your air ducts and dryer vents. Call us at 801-750-2928 to schedule.

Top 8 Carpet Cleaning MYTHS

As carpet cleaners, we have the privilege to meet thousands of people from our local communities and transform the entire look of their home from our quality efforts.  We hear many, MANY carpet cleaning questions and myths along the way, some a bit wilder than others!!  We have gathered those into our list of the Top 8 Carpet Cleaning Myths.

Carpet Cleaning Myth 1:

My carpet cleaning machine is as good as calling a professional

FALSE.  Most of these home-based carpet cleaning machines can do more harm than good.  While they may do a great job releasing water into your carpet or even removing a couple stains, they don’t have the force necessary to EXTRACT the water out of the carpet to keep your carpet from growing mold, mildew, and bacteria. Also these machines tend to use harsh chemicals to clean carpet, whereas at Pure Cleaning, we only use chemicals that are safe for your family and environment. Its best to leave the carpet cleaning to the professionals.

Carpet Cleaning Myth 2:

My carpet is only a year old so it doesn’t need to be cleaned.

FALSE.  A year is a long time to gather dirt, dust, and bacteria! If you wait until you see the dirt in your carpet, then its probably already damaged.  The dirt that is deep down in the fibers is what harms the carpet, which can’t be removed by a vacuum cleaner.

Carpet Cleaning Myth 3:

Carpet deodorizers keep my carpet clean & fresh

FALSE.  Carpet deodorizers actually cause harm to your carpet and more dust in your home.  Its nearly impossible to vacuum up all the particles, leaving these particles to get on your family and in the air.

Carpet Cleaning Myth 4:

All carpet cleaners are the same, so I just go with the cheapest deal.

FALSE. Not all carpet cleaners are the same!! In carpet cleaning, there are 2 different types of companies.  There are the companies offering the lowest prices to get as much business as possible. In order to keep their costs down, they typically hire inexperienced technicians using sub-standard equipment that isn’t properly maintained.  The proper equipment to get your carpets cleaned RIGHT costs tens of thousands of dollars.  Their equipment and technicians may not be able to remove the excess water from your carpet. They may not know how to properly remove stains, leaving sticky residue behind.  The cheapest company may not use PURE and safe cleaning products in order to keep costs low.  You can be assured that at Pure Cleaning & Restoration, we are the 2nd type of company.  We focus on QUALITY and amazing results that will keep you calling us for years to come.

Carpet Cleaning Myth 5:

You should only get your carpets cleaned once per year.

FALSE.  While our Restorative Carpet Cleaning Method may only be needed once (or twice) per year, we also offer our Low-Moisture Cleaning Method which is perfect to maintain your carpet especially in the high traffic areas.

Carpet Cleaning Myth 6:

Cleaning my carpets will make them get dirtier faster!

FALSE.  If you hire a high quality professional, like Pure Carpet Cleaning, this wouldn’t happen because we don’t use harmful agents to clean your carpet AND we don’t leave sticky residue and soil behind.

Carpet Cleaning Myth 7:

If carpet doesn’t look dirty, I don’t need to clean it

Yes you still should get your carpets professionally cleaned every 6-12 months. The dirt may be hidden well in your carpet, but it still acts as an abrasive which will deteriorate your carpet’s fiber and color.

Carpet Cleaning Myth 8:

Waiting as long as possible for carpet cleaning can save me money.

FALSE.  While it may seem like you are saving money on getting your carpet cleaned, you are also decreasing the lifespan of your carpet.  Carpet cleaning may be costly, but new carpet is VERY expensive!  Its important to protect your investment.  Additionally, avoiding carpet cleaning can add more pollutants and bacteria in your home, risking the health of those living in your home especially if you live with allergy sufferers and people with asthma and other health-related issues.

We use Eco-friendly Products

At Pure Cleaning & Restoration, we use Eco-friendly products for our business and also in our every day lives. We breathe, eat, drink, & clean the natural lifestyle each day.

Our family has struggled with many health challenges including asthma, cancer, & multiple allergies. We spent many years searching for answers. Doctors, hospitals, books, clinics, holistic therapies, alternative options, organic foods, and the searching continued.  Now, we eat differently, drink PURE water, keep a clean home free of toxins and allergens, and have eliminated cleaning with harmful products.

Good news! These changes have made a difference in our lives! We all started feeling better, including our kids.  This wasn’t enough.  We needed to do MORE.  We began to educate others. Teaching others how to eat better, drink better, clean better…

That wasn’t enough either! We wanted to make more of a difference in our community!

Our business had to feature these same eco-friendly, non-toxic cleaning products as well.  Today, Pure Cleaning & Restoration has powerful cleaning products that not only provide quality cleaning, but are safe, non-toxic, and natural!

Our carpet cleaning reduces allergens like pet dander, mold spores and bacteria.  Air duct cleaning removes dust and allergens from vents, improving the air we breathe. Tile and grout cleaning eliminates the dirt and bacteria deep in the floor.  Our window cleaning improves home air quality by reducing dust and dirt.  Our damage restoration services include mold cleanup and removal, which can cause multiple health problems if not removed properly.

The products we use are safe and non-toxic, using a special blend of food grade carbonates and an organic citric acid, producing a superior clean with a neutral PH safe on all types of materials.  When our product is mixed with water, it releases millions of tiny effervescing bubbles that help lift soil and stains away from the carpet. The solution penetrates deep into the carpet fibers, latching onto dirt and grime which are then safely and effectively whisked away.

We also have our own soap-free Spot & Stain Remover that will dissolve the toughest spots and stains on carpets and upholstery. Formulated with all natural ingredients that will leave carpet & upholstery soft and fresh.

Our products won’t leave odors nor any sticky residue.

We hope that YOU can start living a healthier, cleaner lifestyle too! A clean, toxin-free environment at home is a great first step. Call us to schedule your carpet cleaning or other cleaning service. 801-750-2928

15 Ways to Prevent Water Damage this Spring

We had a very SNOWY winter this year in Utah!  While the temperatures start to rise, flooding can become a significant (and expensive!) issue for many Utah homes, basements, and office buildings.

Prevention is essential this time of year as the snow melts from our majestic mountains and we accumulate more rain water.   However, if you already have water damage, please call us right away to clear away the water and fix the damage.  Call or text 801-750-2928.

15 Ways to Prevent Water Damage this Spring

  1. Clean out your gutters & downspouts.
  2. Remove Ice Dams before water leak occurs.  Rake snow off with a long-handled aluminum roof rake or fill pantyhose with calcium chloride ice melter and add to roof so it crosses the ice dam and gutter.
  3. Ensure water is running at least 6 feet away from the house.  Consider an underground drain pipe or French drain.
  4. Install a sump pump that automatically pumps water out from the basement and keeps water from rising.
  5. Make sure your ground doesn’t slope towards home.  The dirt should be at least 6 inches higher at base of home above the first 10 feet in all directions.
  6. Seal any gaps or cracks in the walls, floors, foundations and windows of entire house.  Use polyurethane caulk or hydraulic cement.
  7. Replace any missing roof shingles.
  8. Waterproof interior basement walls with silicate-based concrete sealers, concrete coatings, waterproofing paint or plastic panels.
  9. Watch your water bill.  If your bill peaks higher than usual, you may have a potential leak in the pipes hidden behind walls and floors.
  10. Install an automatic emergency generator to help during potential blackouts.
  11. Use a drain snake instead of the unclogging chemicals.  These chemicals can eat away at your pipes and create future problems.
  12. Check appliances regularly & upgrade washing machine hoses.
  13. Be careful where you add trees & plants that may have invasive roots.
  14. Add porous pavement around house to help absorb rainwater and melting snow.
  15. Make sure your drainage systems and plumbing are working properly.

If flooding does occur in your home or office, contact a water damage professional immediately.  For safety reasons, don’t come into contact with the floodwater.  Call us at Pure Cleaning & Restoration services for water damage removal and repair services at 801-750-2928.

Restorative vs Low Moisture Carpet Cleaning

At Pure Cleaning, we provide customized care to get your carpets as clean as possible. During the inspection process, we will analyze the construction of the carpet, the soiled areas, and the condition of the carpet.  After the inspection, we create your customized cleaning plan and decide whether you need our Restorative Cleaning method or Low Moisture Cleaning method.  Many people ask us, what is the difference between your Restorative carpet cleaning and the Low Moisture carpet cleaning?  Let us break it down for you.

Our Restorative Carpet Cleaning (hot water extraction) begins with a dry soil removal using counter rotating brushes that loosens up the soil from the fibers in a gentle way before pre spraying. Then we will pre-spray and go over with our brush machine again to agitate the cleaning solution. Next, we begin hot water extracting using machinery that rotates and has the capability of going through more passes over the carpet than a regular wand. Using these machines allow us to use lower pressure which leaves your carpet less wet and insures that we pull out all of the soil. When we finish hot water extracting, we begin our bonnet cleaning that helps absorb any more soil and moisture. We place air movers to speed up the drying process and we finish off with grooming the carpet at the end.

Low moisture carpet cleaning is a basic maintenance cleaning to reduce traffic patterns, stains, and more.  Low moisture means we will remove the soil and particles from carpet so there is less friction to improve life of your carpet.  First, we remove particles and free dirt from the carpet area.   Then, we spray a safe cleaner (environmentally safe too) on the carpet which crystallizes and locks into the fibers.  Lastly, we clean it up with our brush pro system.  This is a quick service and is suggested every 2-3 months.

Low moisture cleaning is great to do 2-3 times before the restorative carpet cleaning.  Restorative cleaning is recommended every 12-18 months.   We are currently running a low-moisture carpet cleaning special!  Give us a call or text at 801-750-2928.
